Redmond, who it will be remembered met with a severe accident whilst droving cattle last year, necessitating his being a patient in the local hospital for several weeks, is again on the road, travelling with 500 head of cattle from Millstreain station (Roebourne district) to Mingenew. Writing to us from Clifton Downs station under date June 7, Mr. Redmond states he left Millstream station on March 27, and had experienced a terrible lot of rain since starting-10 inches altogether. The country from the Millstream to Mr. W. Hatch's is looking beautiful, but since leaving the latter station be had found little grass enough to get through, but little more. The willy-willy bad played sad havoc with the different station windmills. Mr. Redmond wrote strongly of the disgraceful state of Government wells. H said in many cases there was neither bucket nor rope, and where there was a rope the bucket was missing. The windlasses also were tumbling down with wear, and in some cases the troughs had been washed out with the late rains. He considered that it was time the department controlling the stock route took some steps towards repairing them, and asserted it was some thing over three years since any official had been along to even look at them. He strongly advised drovers coming overland with stock at the end of the year to be well equipped with water raising gear, otherwise their stock would stand a big risk of going short of water. - 19 Jun 1909 - Millstream Station Western Australia Link to Google Earth
Link to Google MapsDroving - We Save heard a rumour that Messrs Richardson. Elliott, and Cornish have sold their Mardie Station-, But as the story lacks confirmation, it can scarcely he given credence at this stage. It may have originated in the circumstance that a mob of sheep is being overlanded under Drover Redmond, from Mardie to Tallerang. The latter station, by the way expects to shear about 25,000 sheep this season. Plans for a new shearing shied have I been prepared by Mr. Howard-, architect, of Perth- - 8 Aug 1910 - Mardie Station Western Australia Link to Google Earth

The drover (Redmond) thinks the cause of death is red water,'which follows tick fever, while some local authorities are of the opinion that they have been poisoned by a shrub. The loss is a severe one. - 23 Jul 1918 - Carlindi Station Western Australia Link to Google Earth
