The following report, dated 6th October, from Mr. Walter, Warden of the Murchison goldfield, has been received by the Under-secretary for Lands : I beg to report for the information of the Hon. the Commissioner, that I this morning received word from the officer in charge of the police,at Annean, to the effect that one George Woolhouse had applied for reward claims in respect of a new find situated about 120 miles north-east of Annean, on the watershed of the Gascoyne. He brought in nuggets of 15oz. and 7oz. weight, besides other alluvial gold. The report has caused considerable excitement on the field, and the majority of the men who were leaving for the reported new find near Yilgarn will probably go to this instead. The nearest permanent water it said to be distant 25 miles. I leave tomorrow." - 4 Nov 1892 - Annean Western Australia Link to Google Earth
