The most disastrous storm ever experienced in the history of Cue occurred on Sunday afternoon. Up to about 3 p.m. the weather was oppressively hot, and at that hour the sky became overcast, to the accompaniment»of thunder and vivid chain lightning.

This presaged a violent dust storm, and about 4.30 p.m. the town was enveloped in dense, blinding clouds of dust, followed by heavy drops of rain and hailstones. The wind grew in velocity until it had attained cyclonic force.

Buildings swayed and rattled, and the jubilation which was felt at the prospect of a cool change was supplanted by fears for the safety of the houses. Sheets of iron were torn from the roofs and swiftly carried through the air. Tanks, tubs, sheets of iron, spouting, pieces of timber, etc., careered along the open spaces, much of which was carried beyond the town limits.

During the height of the storm, iron and other missiles were flying through the air to the imminent danger of life and limb. Luckily, however, no person was injured.

The Cue Brewery building was damaged, and a portion of the roof carried away.
