- Death of Mrs Hayden
FORMER GERALDTON RESIDENT
A Roebourne correspondent telegraphs :
Mrs Hayden. an old West Australian , passed away at her son-in-law's residence on Tuesday morning at the age of 70 years. The deceased lady was born at York in 1840. and for the last last twenty years carried on business as a boarding house keer at Geraldton but owing to bad health she had to give up the business, and came to Roebourne in May last.
Up to last Thursday she appeared well, In the afternoon she complained of pains in the head, and collapsed shortly afterward and remained unconscious until her death on Tuesday morning. The funeral took place the same afternoon. Deceased leaves three daughters and two sons, and eighteen grand children to mourn her loss.
The following floral tributes were received: Mesdames Waugh, Bassett, Flinders. Thurlow. Naughton, Atkinson, Suhard. Kruger, Sukroo, Kain. Watson (Geraldton); Appleton, Peirl. Mr and Mrs G. Rogers Mr Harbutt conducted the service , and Mr V. G. Wheeler played deceased's two favourite hymns, nos 264 and 399. [1]
- Death of an Old Colonist
The death occurred at Roebourne this morning of Mrs Martha Hayden, who was well-known in Geraldton, having resided in Durlacher Street for some years. Deceased was 70 years of age, and. was born in York. She leaves five sons and daughters namely: Mrs M Thomas and Mrs J Harris (Roebourne); Mrs A Cream (Geraldton); James(Melbourne), and Jack (Carnarvan)
Currently no record of Jack or James(Melbourne) Hayden unless by another marriage. Mrs A Cream is Mary Ann (Agnes) Hayden and married Alfred Cream. [2]
